Alix Hallman Travis, “Reflections”, Oil on canvas, 18×18 in., $500., 2020. Changes of location, weather, upheaval of any kind, and the coronovirus isolation is such a situation, is best handled by trying something new. This painting, based on a quick ink sketch made years ago at a train station in Rome, represents something new for me. I have been having a very fruitful and pleasant time reliving the past through my sketch books, while at the same time seeing the sketches through new eyes, in a new size and medium.
I have applied my paint with my fingers and a tiny brush, using the palette knife very little.
