Description
Alix Hallman Travis, “Warm and Friendly”, Oil on canvas, 44×30 in., $2125. 2019. A nocturn with an obvious debt to Van Gogh. His “The Night Cafe”, depicted patrons at an outdoor cafe, mine is from a warm inside looking out on festive lighting a cold night. There is a pedestrian walking by in a knitted hat and ear muffs. Both Van Gogh and I have used the yellow and blue color scheme.
My painting is heavy with paint applied with a palette knife giving the painting texture and a sense of the artist’s gestural strokes.
